Uniquely Wisconsin Video on Kenosha Comets Nominated for Emmy
Uniquely Wisconsin has once again been nominated for an Emmy Award, this time for a story featuring Kenosha County’s “Field of Dreams: All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) 80th Reunion.”
The 66th Annual Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards, which recognize excellence within various areas of television and emerging media. will be held November 2, 2024, in Chicago.
This is the second Emmy Award nomination for the Uniquely Wisconsin brand, following a win last year at the 65th Annual Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards for their video featuring Marathon County’s “Farm to Table Pizzas: The Little Red Barn.”
“With AAGPBL play beginning at a pivotal time in our nation’s history during World War II, the Kenosha Comets are ingrained into the fabric and rich history of Kenosha County,” said Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman. “To have their important story told, and to have these trailblazers featured and reach such a large audience makes us incredibly proud to be from Kenosha County and keep what they did alive.”
The Uniquely Wisconsin brand, built upon generations of rich storytelling from Discover Wisconsin and created by Discover Mediaworks, highlights the stories of the people, the culture, and the history of our state, sprinkled in with a bit of economic development and tourism. To date, the Uniquely Wisconsin brand has reached over 15 million, engaging with viewers, listeners, and web browsers.

The Kenosha County video has been nominated in the category of Outstanding Achievement for Nostalgia – Short & Long Form Content. The nomination states: “Field of Dreams: AAGPBL 80th Reunion: Lisa A. Rose, Josh Schoemann, Executive Producers; Portia Danis, Blaze Davis, Regan Ernst, Jason Rajasinghe, Jake Rome, Producers; Josh Ostermann, Supervising Producer. Discover Mediaworks, Inc.”
The Kenosha County video was highlighted in a Uniquely Wisconsin broadcast episode, in a streaming docuseries, in social and digital media stories, and on the popular Discover Wisconsin podcast, “The Cabin.”
“From the very beginning, the Uniquely Wisconsin brand has been about telling the amazing stories of the people and the culture of our state,” said Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann, who was instrumental in creating the brand alongside the Wisconsin Counties Association and Discover Mediaworks. “Getting yet another Emmy nod is incredibly gratifying and we are grateful for the recognition and are excited to continue to share so much more.”
Uniquely Wisconsin utilizes video, broadcast television, audio, podcasts, and social media to tell the stories of local communities. The stories highlight families, community groups/activities, community kindness, those in the service and hospitality industry, artists, and creators.
Counties highlighted in seasons one and two of Uniquely Wisconsin include the counties of Portage, Marathon, Adams, Rock, Sauk, Sheboygan, Monroe, Wood, Racine, Kenosha, Green Lake and Price. Season Three Counties, being released now, include Ashland, Calumet, Jefferson, Lincoln and Oconto.
