Sheboygan County’s Wegner Named 2022 WCA Friend in County Government

The Wisconsin Counties Association has named Sheboygan County Supervisor Tom Wegner as their 2022 WCA Friend in County Government.

Wegner was honored on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the WCA Annual Conference in Sauk County, where close to 1,000 county officials from around the state were in attendance.

The award is the highest honor given by the Association to an individual who has performed outstanding service to county government in their official role as a county official.

“Tom Wegner is a true leader and exemplifies what service genuinely means,” said WCA President & CEO Mark D. O’Connell. “His work far exceeds the borders of Sheboygan County and he has had a profound impact on the entire state of Wisconsin.”

Tom serves on the WCA Board of Directors as an east central district representative, is the chair of the WCA Group Health Trust, and serves as secretary-treasurer for the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation Board of Directors, as well as for the Community Insurance Corporation Board of Directors.

First elected in April of 2008 to the Sheboygan County Board of Supervisor, he currently serves as chair of the Transportation Committee, vice-chair of the Human Resources Committee, and is a member of the Finance Committee.

“We are incredibly proud to present this award to our well deserving friend and colleague,” said O’Connell.  “Tom’s work alongside our staff has been exemplary and his dedication to advancing county issues is second to none.  We are grateful for his work, his vision and all he has done to touch counties here in our state.”
