Substance Use Navigator

The Substance Use Navigator assists individuals with substance use disorders in accessing and navigating the healthcare system and related services, acting as a guide and providing support, resources, and advocacy to help individuals to and through recovery. This position will report to the Behavioral Health Services Manager.

This grant-funded position is supported by the Vital Strategies Opioid Settlement Match Grant, has a current duration through July 2026, and is contingent on continued funding.

2025 Hiring Range: $23.43 – $26.62 per hour

Position Summary and Job Duties
• Connect individuals and families with resources for substance use; help identify the resources needed such as medication assisted treatment, housing, support groups, community services, and recovery options
• Provide support and education through guidance and advocacy for treatment options and supportive service; ensure harm reduction resources, like NARCAN, are available to the community
• Address barriers to care such as insurance, transportation, and housing, that interfere with the client’s road to recovery
• Monitor progress through treatment and advocate for unmet needs
• Provide education and outreach to individuals, families, and community networks on substance use and harm reduction strategies
• Coordinate with first responders, healthcare systems, crisis teams, and other community resources to build community
• Provide harm reduction trainings to the community through NARCAN education events
• Perform other work as required or assigned

Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience
Required Education and Experience
• Associate degree in a human services or related field
• 3 years of experience with services and resources

Preferred Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a human services or related field

Other Job Requirements
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Access to a vehicle for use in the performance of job duties
