Social Worker – CPS Ongoing & Community Response

As a function of the Waupaca County Department of Human Services Department, the Ongoing Child Protective Services/Community Response Case Manager/Social Worker performs professional social work functions to provide a wide array of services to the diverse population of Waupaca County residents in the area of Child Protective Services.
The Community Response role specifically provides voluntary outreach and support to families who have identified service needs, show a desire to engage in services, and who have a screened out access report for child abuse or neglect or do not require formal ongoing engagement through the court process. Priority is given to cases that involve children under the age of five. The position requires an individual who is able to identify strengths and protective factors in families and build upon family goals through engagement and compassionate service.
As part of the foregoing, you will develop a strong comprehension for Wisconsin Statutes Chapter 48, collaborate with law enforcement, schools, our Corporation Counsel’s office, along with families and other community partners, assess and compile information including appropriate recommendations four Court and dispositional services, testify in Court, maintain complete, timely, and accurate case notes, conduct yourself ethically, attend trainings, assess and coordinate services, coordinate and manage placements of children in out-of-home settings.
This position works under the direct supervision of the CPS Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide services to families that ensure safety, permanence, and wellbeing of children according to federal, state, and administrative code.
Assess strengths and needs of the family, develop family case/permanency plans, treatment/safety plans, and court reports/testimony.
Work collaboratively with other Departments and external providers, being reliable, ethical, effective, and efficient.
Participate in after hours on call rotation which includes both child welfare and youth justice on-call.
Attends staff meetings and trainings as directed.
PERIPHERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs other duties as assigned by the CPS Manager.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college with a degree in social work or human service field.
EXPERIENCE: Experience in child protective services ongoing case management, initial assessment, and/or juvenile justice preferred, but not required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a valid Wisconsin Social Work Certification, or be eligible for a Temporary Certificate and obtain that certificate within 6 months of hire and must receive full certification prior to two years of employment with Waupaca County.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care principles.
Knowledge of Chapter 48 Children’s Code.
Knowledge of eWiSACWIS.
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to maintain agency confidentiality.
Must have available transportation to perform on-site responsibilities.
