Senior Engineer / County Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
This Engineer plays a key role in the Highway Department by providing expert engineering services and oversight for road, bridge, and infrastructure projects. This position leads the engineering division, manages local bridge inspections and improvement programs, reviews development plans, supervises construction activities, and ensures compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Additionally, the role involves staff management, budget preparation, collaboration with various stakeholders, and providing technical guidance for County infrastructure needs. Work is conducted under the general supervision of the Highway Commissioner, balancing office-based planning and field-based project supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Senior Engineer
-Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field.
-Minimum of one year experience working with engineering transportation design, construction required.
-Must be actively working toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
-Safety Inspection of Bridges Certification, must be obtained within one year of hire.
County Engineer
-Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field.
-Three years’ experience working with engineering transportation design, construction required.
-Previous supervisory experience preferred.
-Professional Engineer Registration with the State of Wisconsin required. Professional Engineer Registration from another state may be substituted if Wisconsin registration is obtained within one year of hire.
-Safety Inspection of Bridges Certification, must be obtained within one year of hire.

Senior Engineer Expected Salary Range: $85,634 – $119,309/year
County Engineer Expected Salary Range: $94,411 – $131,539/year
