Job Description:

General Summary
This position is responsible for mowing and minor building and grounds maintenance at the Airport and is under the direction of the Airport Maintenance Superintendent.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions
1. Responsible for cutting grass around runaways, taxiways and buildings.
2. Responsible for maintaining equipment – grease, change oil and filters, check for broken parts, clean radiator screens, change bulbs, check / change belts and tires and power wash.
3. Plant grass seed and fertilize.
4. Painting, repairing fences, lawn / yard maintenance, tree and shrub trimming and small building repair projects.

Requirements

Required Training and Experience
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Current valid driver’s license.

Preferred Training and Experience
1. One (1) year of responsible work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
1. Ability to drive pick-up trucks.
2. Ability to operate larger tractors with attachments and heavy-duty roller
3. Ability to operate push mowers and trimmers
4. Ability to use hand and power tools, shovels, rakes, saws, etc
5. Ability to use chain saw, limb trimmer and chipper for brush and limbs
6. Ability to use tact and courtesy in maintaining an effective working relationship with department employees, county supervisors, county officials, and general public.

Physical & Working Conditions
95% of the work is outside, cool temps in spring and fall, hot temps in summer. Mowing will be done during light rain, mowing will not be done during heavy rain or lightning. Ear plugs while mowing, dust mask is also recommended when mowing with TS110, very dusty. Long pants and work shoes, no sandals or shorts, full shirt, short sleeves are allowed but specific jobs will require long sleeves. Will be operating equipment along side of active runway(s) and need to be very alert. Need to monitor aircraft radio, to determine aircraft location and know runway aircraft will be using.

In an effort to provide for continuity of County government and to cope with the problems of the emergency, you may be required to work during a proclaimed state of emergency, consistent with Sec 323.14 Wis. Stats. and County emergency management plans and programs.
