Chippewa County is accepting applications for Reserve Patrol Officers within the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department. The job duties of the Reserve Officer include but are not limited to act as the official representative of the office of the Sheriff and accomplish the goals and mission of the Office of the Sheriff as set forth in policy and to supplement the fulltime operation of the Sheriff’s Office with primary focus on special events and recreation patrol. The fundamental duties of a deputy sheriff include serving the community; safe guard lives and property; protecting the innocent; keeping the peace; and ensuring the rights of all to liberty, equality and justice.

The empowerment and duty to act as a sworn law enforcement officer are extended only when performing scheduled on duty functions for the Office of the Sheriff. Sworn law enforcement duty and authority does not extend when off-duty.

This is a less than part-time position. The unscheduled is variable and is often times on short notice.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be currently LESB certified, certifiable, proof of current enrollment in basic recruit training programs, or become LESB Certified within 12 months of hire is required. Must possess a minimum of 60 college credits if employed in Law Enforcement after 1993 or proof of current enrollment in courses to apply towards said program. Prior law enforcement experience preferred, but not required. Must have a valid Wisconsin Operators License. No felony or domestic misdemeanor or any offense, which, if committed in Wisconsin, could be punished as felony or domestic misdemeanor unless the applicant has been granted an absolute and unconditional pardon. Wage: $19.07 – $31.88 per hour depending on qualifications. This is a non-benefited position.
