Public Health Officer

Rusk County is accepting applications and resumes for a full-time Health Officer. The Health Officer position is responsible for the health department operations contained within the health & human services department. Plans and organizes all functions, including staffing, staff development and budgeting; coordinates implementation of disease management/wellness systems under the direction of the Medical Director. The Health Officer leads development of grant and alternative funding proposals to increase or enhance public health offerings in concert with the health department programs. In the role of Health Officer, protects the heath of the community through the enforcement of public health laws and facilitation of preparedness planning with community partners in a manner consistent with statutory authority and County policy.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Nursing, Physical or Biological Sciences or related field. Three years of experience in a public health agency with administrative and supervisory experience preferred. Salary range is $34.45 – $36.42 per hour (based on experience and qualifications) and benefit package.
