Are you a motivated and skilled nurse that has a passion for promoting health and disease prevention? If so, Monroe County’s Health Department might have the job for you! We are hiring for a full-time Public Health Nurse. Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with theory and clinical practice in public health nursing. Meet qualifications delineated in HFS 139.08 of the Wisconsin Statutes as a Public Health Nurse by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Division of Health. Must be licensed as a registered nurse in Wisconsin. A valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and sufficient liability insurance is required. The ideal candidate will have 18 months full-time experience as a Public Health Nurse or the knowledge and abilities that would normally be acquired during that time.

Our Public Health Nurse assesses and educates clients and provides community-based nursing services delivered to individual clients, families, public facilities, and populations with the goal of preventing disease, promoting healthy behaviors, and protecting communities from threats to the health of the public. Assesses, evaluates, and manages communicable disease cases and outbreaks; investigates and educates regarding prevention and control in accordance with State mandates and statutes and maintain WEDSS (Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System) documentation. Organizes, manages, updates, and oversees various Public Health programs as assigned. Assists in writing grant proposals, oversees grant activities, reporting requirements, contractual obligations, and performance standards and requirements.

Starting salary for this position is $34.60 hourly. This position offers some flexibility in scheduling with general working hours being M-F 8am-430pm; this position is included in the department on-call rotation scheduling and occasional evenings and weekends are required.
