Public Health Nurse
Position Summary:
Marathon County Health Department has a 1.0 FTE opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to join our Family Health and Communicable Disease team. Public health nurses provide a variety of individual and community based health programs. This position will work primarily in the family health (Start Right) program area, but will include some communicable disease work, depending on team needs. The ideal candidate will be a nurse who is grounded in their nursing practice, has leadership skills, and is able to contribute to the department’s positive work culture. This position requires primarily weekday hours with some evening and weekend work.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with Bachelor’s degree in nursing or an advanced degree in nursing from an approved college/university.
OR
Registered Nurse with a bachelor’s degree in a related field (public health, social work, health education, etc.) AND is enrolled in a BSN completion program that will conclude within one year of date of hire. If hired under these conditions, the nurse will work under the direction of a public health nurse until their BSN is awarded.
Preferred:
• Experience with women who are pregnant, postpartum, and/or young children and their families on an inpatient, outpatient, or community setting
• Experience with vulnerable populations professionally or as a volunteer
