Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing from an accredited program. Meet qualifications delineated in DHS139.08 of the Wisconsin Statutes as a Public Health Nurse by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Public Health. Must be licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have two years of nursing experience with one year of professional work experience in public health or a community health setting. A valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and sufficient liability insurance is required. Candidates that are within six months of obtaining BSN may also be considered.
Our Public Health Nurse assesses and educates clients and provides community-based nursing services delivered to individual clients, families, and populations with the goal of preventing disease, promoting healthy behaviors, and protecting communities from threats to the health of the public. Assesses and manages communicable disease cases and outbreaks; investigates and educates regarding prevention and control in accordance with State mandates and statutes and maintains WEDSS (Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System) documentation. Develops and facilitates group presentations and/or education displays related to communicable disease, injury prevention, and other health-related topics. Organizes and manages various Public Health programs as assigned. Participates in community coalitions and professional meetings as a representative of the Monroe County Health Department.
Starting salary for this position is $31.39 – $33.90 hourly based on qualifications and experience. General working hours being M-F 8am-430pm; occasional evening work is required.
