Program Assistant – Planning & Zoning

Oneida County is accepting applications to fill a Program Assistant position in the Rhinelander Planning & Zoning Office.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: This position performs independent program support involving a variety of secretarial and clerical tasks. The primary role of the Program Assistant will be to review and issue permits for the Planning & Zoning office. This position has significant public contact via phone and in-person, requiring patience, understanding and tact.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Qualified candidates must have a High School degree or equivalent, at least one-year post high school education in Administrative Support, Secretarial Science, Accounting or related, and at least three years work experience in an office environment performing related duties. The ideal candidate should possess good computer skills, have experience using Microsoft Office programs, be able to setup and maintain records and reports, and possess the ability to organize, plan and schedule priorities. Must be able to type 60 wpm and operate a 10-key calculator efficiently. Experience with legal land descriptions is preferred but not required.

WAGES AND BENEFITS: Starting 2025 hourly rate of $25.13 to $26.57 plus excellent benefit package, including Wisconsin Retirement System benefits, affordable health, dental and vision insurance and a PTO (Paid Time Off) package with the ability to carry unused PTO into future years.
WORK HOURS AND SCHEDULE: Position works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
