Portage County Health & Human Services department is hiring a full-time Portage House Supervisor. This position will have primary responsibility to develop and oversee all activities and services of Portage House, a rehabilitative halfway house for adult male criminal offenders.

Pay range starts at $70,435 / yr

What are the primary job duties?

Resident Supervision

Oversee and supervise the screening and selection of residents.
Responsible for and has authority over residents while they are in the program.
Stays informed of residents’ activities.
Provide counseling, advice, assistance, information and referral.
Actively involved in the disciplinary process.
Co-facilitate house meetings and treatment groups.
Connect and interact with residents on a daily basis.

Program Planning, Reporting and Evaluation

Direct a community-based residential facility for adult male corrections residents.
Develop and oversee program policy, rules and vision.
Supervises the formulation of program rules, policies, and procedures.
Supervises the collection of data on services provided to residents.
Develops and reviews written materials used for data gathering and reporting.
Edits all resident departure statements and annual reports.
Evaluates the program on an on-going basis.
Ensures the facility and the program comply with federal, state, and local code requirements.
Coordinate treatment providers and services to meet resident need.

Recruit, Hire, Train, Supervise and Evaluate Portage House Staff

Consult with Human Resources in recruitment and hiring process.
Initiate recruitment and hiring as needed.
Recommend hiring and termination.
Supervises and evaluates section personnel based on human resources policies and department work rules.
Ensure new staff and current staff are trained in their duties.
Administer human resources policies as necessary.
Plan and execute section staff meetings to provide direction and consultation to section personnel.
Organize and promote staff development through individual guidance, in-service programs and other training events.
Respond to and resolve staff complaints.
Available on call outside of regular work hours.

What are the minimum qualifications?

Bachelor’s degree in human service-related field required.
Minimum of three years’ experience with correction residents required.
Minimum of three years’ experience with program planning, administration, budgeting, and staff management required.
Any combination of education and experience that provides the equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check/caregiver background check and maintain status.
Must be a licensed driver and have access to an insured vehicle or ability to obtain one.
