Job Title: Parks Caretaker

Purpose of Position: This position is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the park; collecting fees; and enforcing park rules. This position works under general supervision.

Examples of Job Functions (100%):
• Collection of camping fees and maintenance of fee collection records.
• Clean, supply and sanitize all park buildings.
• Collection of and disposal of all camp-related refuse.
• Mow and trim park lawns as needed.
• Clean and maintain fire rings.
• Paint and perform light maintenance of picnic tables and other park property.
• Aid in enforcement of County Parks Ordinance and provide such information to campers.
• Represent Barron County in a professional manner on the park grounds at all times.
• Camp on grounds most of camping season (May 1 – October 1).
• Aid in spring clean-up of park(s).

Remuneration:
* $3.50 of each nightly camping fee collected.
* 15% of each monthly camping fee collected.
* Receive free campsite and electricity for campsite while performing Parks Caretaker duties.
* $13.31/hour for lawn mowing, cleaning, maintenance duties, etc.
* Local telephone service provided.
At the full responsibility of the Caretaker, allowed to sell items to campers (such as firewood, ice, etc), however not paid for time to prepare/purchase/sell said items.

Requirements of Work:
Possess high school diploma. Must be at least 21 years of age; a Barron County resident with no prior felony convictions; and possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License. Ability to camp on grounds most of camping season. Ability to interact pleasantly and respectfully with campers, county employees and the general public. Knowledge and ability to conduct effective and appropriate cleaning procedures. Ability to accurately collect fees and maintain collection records. Ability to operative basic computer operations.

Physical and Environmental Factors:
o Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry and lift as needed. Heavy lifting may be required at times.
o Ability to work outdoors and in various outdoor elements, such as wind, heat, rain, cold, etc.
o Ability to utilize various cleaning chemicals.
o Ability to operate and safely use various tools and/or pieces of equipment such as lawn mower, lawn trimmer, chain saw, etc.
