POSITION SUMMARY:

This temporary/seasonal position reports directly to the Park Manager and is expected to perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, conservation, and repair of County park facilities, trails, and natural areas. Position runs from approximately May to September.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Primary Duties
The following duties are normal and primary responsibilities for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Perform grounds maintenance activities including, but not limited to, mowing, trail maintenance, use area maintenance, herbicide application, hazard tree and brush removal and other related tasks.
• Assist in the construction, maintenance and repair of park buildings and park structures.
• Identify equipment needs for each assigned project, maintain work logs and records, and maintenance and repair logs.
• Safely operate and maintain park vehicles/equipment (trucks/trailers, tractors and other heavy equipment, ATV/UTV, boats, riding mowers, gas/electric power tools, stationary shop tools and other equipment, etc.).
• Post boundary signs and construct fence lines to delineate park boundaries.
• Enforce all park rules, County policies, regulations and the County Park Ordinance, Chapter 30. Patrol park property to ensure compliance, prevent fires and reduce vandalism.
• Conduct minor electrical and plumbing repairs and assist with construction and assembly projects.
• Participate in county-required safety training.

Secondary Duties
The following duties are considered secondary responsibilities for this position. The functions may be expected on an as needed basis at the discretion of the Park Manager.
• Cleaning of restroom and shower facilities. Clean out fire-rings and grills, conduct the sale of admission passes, camping registrations, equipment rentals, and collection of revenue for other permits/merchandise when needed.
• Assist with promotional and educational activities and special events.
• Provide information to park visitors.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and pick up litter.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• This position requires a valid driver’s license.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Previous experience operating maintenance equipment such as riding lawnmowers, chainsaws, large trucks, construction equipment or farm equipment, and UTVs preferred.
• Previous landscape, construction, or maintenance experience preferred.

Full Wage Range: $17.46 – $24.33
Expected Wage Range: $17.46 – $19.76
FTE: Temporary, 40 hours/week from May to September
