Operator 1- Bridgetender

Operator 1: November 1st – March 31st, 7 am – 3:30 pm Monday-Friday
This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include but not limited to: trucks, snowplows, tractors, mowers, sheepsfoot compactors, self-propelled sweepers, skid steers and other pieces of equipment. This position also includes patrolling of state and county highways and all duties associated with contractual agreements with State and Local governments.

Bridgetender: April 1st-October 31st , 1st shift 8 am – 4:30pm, 2nd shift 4 pm – 12 midnight, 6 days on, 3 days off; rotating schedule.
The purpose of this position is to operate and maintain the Prescott USH 10 Lift Bridge in accordance with the pertinent laws, rules, and regulations of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Wisconsin DOT governing navigation, pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The work activities include but are not limited to the following duties: Janitorial services to keep the operation’s facilities in good condition; painting floors, walls, equipment, etc. as directed by construction superintendent; report mechanical, structural, or roadway problems that are observed to supervisor for correction; and a variety of other tasks associated with operation, maintenance, and repair of a lift bridge.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of proper operation and routine maintenance of heavy-duty equipment which could be gained in 1 to 2 years of practical work experience in a highway maintenance environment. Know and observe State speed and weight limit regulations and highway laws. Knowledge of geographic locations of highways, roads, and townships within Pierce County. Valid CDL Drivers License is required.

This Position is a FT 40 hours per week. Starting Salary $23.65-$25.00 per hour. (Depending on qualifications) plus fringe benefits. See attached Position Description.
