Nutrition Site Manager – Washington Island
General Summary
This position is responsible for the preparation and serving of the hot meals and frozen meals at the Washington Island meal site. This includes shopping for the food supplies, preparing meals for both congregate and home delivered meals according to the dietary standards per the nutrition manual and dietician approved menu, the serving of the food and the clean-up after the meal. Regular attendance and punctuality along with being prepared to commence work at designated work locations, on the assigned or scheduled days and hours is expected. Responsible for providing truthful and accurate written and verbal communications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
1. Shops for appropriate food supplies for dietician-approved menus, according to proper purchasing principals and procedures.
2. Prepares food and provides proper sanitation according to ServSafe standards.
3. Prepares and package meals for the Home Delivered Meal Program.
4. Tabulates monetary donations and makes bank deposits daily and reports monthly accounting information to the ADRC in an accurate and timely manner.
5. Maintains a clean and orderly kitchen area according to current food safety standards.
6. Makes sure all congregate meal site participants have a completed assessment prior to meals at the site.
7. Records meal reservations and records attendance at the site; reports data back to the Sturgeon Bay office monthly.
8. Provide truthful and accurate written and verbal communications.
General Job Functions
1. Presents a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere by greeting meal participants and treating volunteers with respect.
2. Reports to Assistant ADRC Director when needing supplies for meal packaging or cleaning supplies in a timely manner,
3. Responsible for dishwashing, sanitizing workspaces, carts, cooler bags and any other necessary
areas and equipment.
4. Reports any concerns to the Assistant ADRC Director.
5. Supervises volunteers at the meal site.
Requirements
Training and Experience
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Associate Degree in Food Service or related training.
3. Two (2) years of responsible work experience, preferably in a food service-related setting.
4. Current valid Wisconsin driver’s license required.
5. Must pass Serving Safe Food certification within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
1. Ability to pass the exam associated with the Serving Safe Food course.
2. Ability to coordinate the work of volunteers.
3. Ability to record information accurately and timely.
4. Skills to relate to the needs of older adults and persons with disabilities.
5. Ability to use tact and courtesy in maintaining an effective working relationship with department
employees, county supervisors, county officials, and general public.
6. Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate, both verbally and in writing.
Physical & Working Conditions
Kitchen environment in public setting.
