Nurse Educator
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position provides program management over the CNA training course for the State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification program as well as the training program for CBRF Training that is required by DHS 83. This position provides quality training of these programs and training assistance for students to become registered/certified after successful completion of training, as well as educates on other related topics as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Prepares and is the primary instructor for nursing assistant core curriculum classes required by the State of Wisconsin 120-hour nursing assistance certification.
• Prepares and is the primary instructor for CBRF Training programs required under State Administrative Code, including Standard precautions, Medication Administration, Fire safety and First aid, and choking.
• Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to ensure maximum student motivation, progress, and completion.
• Maintains a high degree of classroom management and case-management to ensure maximum student learning and progress within and through the programs.
• Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
• Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
• Prepares for and instructs scheduled clinicals.
• Responsible for the completion and maintenance of student documentation and records as required by the State and the facility. Submits necessary documentation to the State of Wisconsin for inclusion to the State Registries.
• Ensures equipment for training is in working condition.
• Provides additional individualized training support for student testing.
• Provide CPR training and testing for all Licensed Nursing Staff. Complete and maintain required documentation to certify completion of testing.
• Provide addition training topics as identified for facility staff as requested by the HCC Administrator.
• Follows all regulation requirements to maintain the certification for the facility. Modifies training as required for regulatory changes. Notifies the State and HCC Administration as required of curriculum changes.
• Maintains trainer eligibility for all training programs.
• Develops policy recommendation and implements upon approval as well as drafts department procedures to ensure complete training programs are in place to ensure compliance with current standards of practice.
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one (1) year providing care in a long-term care facility, as required under Wisconsin Administrative Code DHS 129.
• Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a teaching or training position preferred.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with state nurse aide registry reporting, preferred.
• Wisconsin Registered Nurse License.
• Wisconsin DHS-approved Nurse Aide Program Instructor (Train-the-Trainer) certification, required within six (6) months of hire.
• CPR Instructor certification (AHA or equivalent), required within six (6) months of hire.
• CBRF Instructor Certification (UW-Green Bay or other DHS-approved provider), required within six (6) months of hire.
• Must successfully pass criminal and caregiver background check.
Expected Pay Range: $35.62/hour – $40.29/hour
Full Pay Range: $35.62/hour – $49.62/hour
