Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to perform records management and support tasks for the Sauk County Veterans Service Office.

*This is a limited term position with up to 38.75 hours available per week. This position is estimated to be needed until the end of 2023 calendar year.

Essential Duties
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Sorts, alphabetizes and files reports & correspondence in designated section of department files.

Updates department system/database with current information as needed.

Maintains security of medical records & veterans files.

Photocopies and faxes records as requested.

Responsible for imaging of records.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to assemble, copy, record and transcribe data and information, following a prescribed plan. Ability to compare, count, differentiate, measure and/or sort data and information.

Ability to explain, demonstrate and clarify to others within well established policies, procedures and standards, as well as the ability to follow specific instructions and respond to simple requests.

Ability to communicate effectively with Department personnel.

Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, divide and measure.

Ability to use functional reasoning, development in the performance of semi-routine functions involving standardized work with some choice of action.

Ability to apply situational reasoning ability by exercising judgment, decisiveness and creativity within repetitive or short cycle operations covered by set procedures or sequences.

Ability to operate equipment and machinery requiring simple, periodic adjustments. Ability to move and guide material using simple tools.

Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing semi skilled movements such as data entry. Ability to operate computer, keyboard/typewriter, photocopier, postage meter, fax machine.

Ability to exert moderate physical stress in sedentary to light work, involving climbing and balancing. Ability to handle, finger and feel. Ability to lift, carry, push and pull. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Ability to sustain prolonged visual concentration.

Ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of colors.

Required Working Hours

Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. Please note these hours are subject to change and additional hours may be needed or required. Compensation for additional hours beyond normal working hours are subject to applicable state and federal regulations.

Minimum Training and Education
Required: High school diploma and one to two years general office experience required or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience in word processing and data entry skills, records maintenance and compliance preferred.
