Job Summary
The Limited Term Employee (LTE) Address Sign Installation Technician supports public safety and emergency response readiness by verifying, installing, and replacing rural address signage throughout the County. The role requires field-based work, independent decision-making, and coordination with team members to ensure signage is accurate, properly placed, and visible from public roadways.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Verifies that existing address signs are installed in proper locations according to County and emergency response guidelines.
Identifies signs requiring relocation or replacement, including evaluation of post condition and visibility.
Installs new or replacement address signs and posts as needed, using hand tools and small power equipment.
Confirms proper placement and orientation of signs based on property boundaries, road access, and mapping systems.
Collaborates with crew members to complete sign installation efficiently and according to safety protocols.
Uses computer-based tracking software to document work performed, update records, and report issues found in the field.
Reads and interprets Diggers Hotline markings to ensure utility line safety during sign installation.
Drives to various rural and sometimes off-road locations, navigating ditches and uneven terrain to access signage sites.
Maintains tools, equipment, and County vehicle in clean and operable condition.
Communicates with the Emergency Management Director regarding progress, obstacles, or field safety concerns.

Attention to Detail: Ensures sign accuracy and correct property alignment during installation.
Field Navigation: Effectively operates in various outdoor environments using maps or digital location tools.
Technical Proficiency: Operates small power tools and mobile tracking systems accurately.
Problem Solving: Identifies installation issues and determines suitable corrective actions independently.
Collaboration: Works effectively with team members and supervisors to meet installation targets.
Safety Awareness: Understands and follows utility marking standards and field safety protocols.

Required Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Experience operating small power tools and hand tools.
Demonstrated ability to use computer tracking or data entry systems.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in variable outdoor conditions.
Familiarity with Diggers Hotline utility marking protocols.

Preferred Education & Experience
Previous experience in signage installation, construction, or related field work.
Experience working with global positioning systems (GPS) or geographic information system (GIS)-based field tools.
Knowledge of rural addressing systems and emergency response mapping.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Work is conducted entirely outdoors in varying weather conditions. Tasks require frequent bending, lifting, walking in roadside ditches, and use of hand tools. The position involves daily travel to installation sites, requiring driving and entering/exiting a vehicle frequently. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate uneven terrain.
