Job Title: Fair Assistant
Hours: Temporary
Department: Fair & Exhibits
Reports to: Fair Manager
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Position Purpose: Provide assistance to fair manager and fair committee in managing general operations of a successful fair.

Required Qualifications:
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
• High school age or above
• Excellent skills using all Microsoft programs, emphasis on Microsoft Excel
• Excellent problem solving/judgment skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Essential Functions:
• Effectively communicates with fair manager, fair committee, vendors, exhibitors and the public when necessary to share ideas and general details of the fair.
• Maintains clear and concise entry processes, check in of entries and scheduling of entries
• Processes exhibitor and season pass transactions and deposits
• Issues exhibitor correspondence, contracts for vendors and public inquiries
• Performs all phone and in-person communications with exhibitors, exhibitor families and general public
• Verifies summer workers, ticket sellers, exhibitor and grandstand schedules
• Provides direction and verification from fair manager to outside summer help and vendors
• Assists fair manager with state aid paperwork and closing files to close out the fair
• Creates and distributes all forms, fairbooks, maps, schedules, tickets, brochures and other literature to exhibitors and the public
• Works with fair manager, committee, volunteers and coworkers to run an organized and successful fair
• Performs general maintenance and office duties, when needed.
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:
• Requires functional vision and hearing
• Requires manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
• Must be able to function in an office setting with background noise and distractions
• Requires clear verbal communication

• Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people to create a positive work environment; may be called upon to handle difficult situations
• Must be able to deal with a variety of emotions and frustrations; emotional stability and maturity are important attributes in this position

• Must be able to gain new skills and knowledge necessary for performance of essential job functions
• Must be able to give, receive, and analyze information
• Must be able to effectively communicate, providing verbal feedback and written documentation in a professional manner
