Chippewa County is currently seeking candidates for Jailer positions within the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department. This position is responsible for supervising inmates of the Chippewa County Jail while assuring a safe, secure, and sanitary environment. Qualified candidates will have the ability to manage, direct and command people in a respectful and effective manner as well as a demonstrated history of being able to think and act quickly, accurately and calmly under time constraints and in difficult or emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Two (2) years of previous corrections / jail experience and/or 60 college credits is preferred. If not currently certified, the 200-hour basic Jail Officers Certification must be obtained within one year of hire (tuition and wages while attending the school are paid by Chippewa County). Starting Wage: $22.50 per hour – OR – $24.30 per hour with two (2) or more years qualified experience. Maximum Wage: $30.38 per hour
