JAIL SERGEANT

Chippewa County is currently seeking a candidate for a Jail Sergeant position within the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department – Jail Division. The job duties of the Jail Sergeant include but are not limited to provide direction and basic supervision of the jail work force and inmate population. Supervises inmates and all jail staff in the custody, care, and transportation of inmates at the County Jail during assigned shift. Work involves supervision of the daily operation of an assigned area on an assigned shift and training of Jailers.

*Current Shift Openings: Nights, 6 PM – 6 AM includes shift differential of $1.00 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Posses 60 college credits from an accredited college as defined by the U.S. Department of Education required. Minimum of two (2) years of Chippewa County Jailer experience required or three (3) years of Jail, Corrections or Law Enforcement experience from an outside agency required. Jail Certified in the State of Wisconsin or certifiable within one year of appointment required. Out of state certifications will be considered. WI Law Enforcement Standard Board Certification preferred. Out of state certifications will be considered. CPR and/or First Aid preferred. A valid driver’s licenses is required and a cell phone is recommended. Jail Sergeant, Wage: $30.98 – $33.68 per hour depending on qualifications. Maximum Wage: $40.42 per hour.

Night Shift: An additional $1.00 per hour, for night shift differential.
