POSITION SUMMARY:
This position performs a variety of technical work for the Information Technology Department including, but not limited to establishing communication systems, maintaining the County fiber optic infrastructure, maintaining voice and data communication network and IT equipment and connectivity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-Installs and terminates low-voltage cabling, following industry and County standards.
-Monitors systems for predictive analytics and failures; responds to alerts in timely manner both during and after normal working hours even when not on-call.
-Establishes, maintains, and repairs voice and fiber optic infrastructure by testing, running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables.
-Installs telecommunications equipment, IP telephones, cable trays, cable management and ladder racks.
-Coordinates installation and service with contractors and vendors.
-Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, alarms, identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
-Works with other departments and contractors to determine cabling requirements and capabilities of existing cabling.
-Administers and manages all aspects of an on-premises IP telephonevoicemail system, and PBX equipment; recommends improvements to this critical infrastructure component.
-Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, upgrades, and recommends audio visual equipmentdigital signage in all County buildings.
-Provides end-user support for audio-visual equipment.
-Installs and configures IP cameras; configures and maintains video surveillance system.
-Configures network ports, assists in maintenance of network switches and other equipment with the guidance of the Network Engineer.
-Installs, configures, maintains, and provides end-use support for video conferencing systems.
-Configures and maintains County-wide electronic faxing solutions.
-Documents low-voltage and audio-visual networks by labeling routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
-Assists in the maintenance of standards and documentation.
-Provides support to all users as needed. These duties are performed in such a way as to reduce down-time and enhance productivity of users.
-Member of IT on-call rotation providing after-hours support.
-Responds after-hours in support of 24×7 operations.
-Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

-Knowledge of telecommunications wiring standards and cable splicing.
-Knowledge of fiber optic testing and termination.
-Knowledge of MUXDEMUXWDM equipment and theory.
-Knowledge of TCPIP networking and configuration in a multi-campus environment.
-Knowledge of the principles of electrical, electronic, digital, and radio theory.
-Ability to apply analytic techniques appropriate to a wide variety of organizational questions and problems.
-Ability to work independently and to learn technical procedures with minimal help.
-Ability to determine needs of users.
-Comprehensive knowledge of personal and networked computer operations, including hardware, software, and data communications, and online environments.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with standard office equipment and multi-line telephone systems.
-Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex administrative information, define problems, research solutions, and recommend effective methods or procedures.
-Ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate projects and programs while managing multiple tasks, priorities, and demands.
-Excellent organizational and time management skills to perform detailed work accurately, independently, and within strict deadlines.
-Knowledge of County, State and departmental policies, procedures, and programs, and familiarity with local government within 6-months of hire.
-Knowledge of modern office practices, including standard procedures and assistance techniques.
-Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed organizational or functional reports.
-Strong interpersonal skills to maintain a professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service when dealing with the public and internal employees.
-Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and maintain productivity in a high-volume environment.
-Ability to work the allocated hours of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

-Associates degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and four (4) years’ relevant Information Technology experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities, of which, two (2) years is experience as a Low Voltage Technician; OR high school diploma/equivalent and six (6) years’ relevant Information Technology experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities, of which, two (2) years is experience as a Low Voltage Technician.
-Data Cabling Installers Certification desired.
-Fiber Optics Installer (FOI) & Fiber Optics Technician (FOT) certifications and experience desired.
-Microsoft Teams administration and support experience desired.
-Cisco certifications and experience desired.
-Mitel 3300 System Administration training shall be completed within 6 months of hire.
-Must successfully pass FBI and criminal background check.

Full Pay Range: $68,494 – $95,430/year
Expected Pay Range: $68,494 – $77,501/year
