Job Description:

The Iowa County Highway Department is seeking applicants for a Section Maintenance Patrol position (State). General job duties include routine and emergency maintenance task related to a specific highway section or region of the county, plowing/wining of snow, weed and brush control and mowing and flagging traffic. Starting pay is $20.78/hr. – $22.47/hr. with a generous, comprehensive benefit package.

Applicant requirements: minimum 18 years of age, high school diploma/GED, and valid Commercial Driver’s License with classes A,B,C, and D, with tank vehicle endorsement (N), and no air brake restrictions. Candidates must have recently demonstrated proficiency with a wide variety of equipment and tools and an understanding of the machinery, methods, and operations required for road maintenance and construction activities as well as hands-on experience with the daily care, maintenance, and operation of equipment and trucks, and capability to operate automated brooms, various hand and mechanical tools, mowers, plows, road maintenance and construction equipment.

Applicants must be available on nights, holidays, and weekends during snow or other emergencies. Must be able to work 4 ten hour days/week schedule during the summer season (May thru September) when implemented. Pre-placement drug & alcohol testing required.
