Highway Mechanic
The primary job duties of the Highway Mechanic Position include a variety of repairs and maintenance tasks on county highway vehicles and equipment under the supervision of the Highway Operations Manager.
Qualifications include thorough knowledge of motor vehicle and other equipment mechanics and skill in repairing such vehicles; knowledge in hydraulic applications; ability to follow simple oral and written instructions; thoroughness; good mechanical sense. Considerable experience in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment and the completion of a standard high school course supplemented by vocational technical training in automotive mechanic; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be able to obtain a valid Class A, B, C Commercial Driver’s License, and “N” tank endorsed. Must have own tools. Demonstrate ability to keep records for time, equipment, and materials on their assignment. Must complete Pre-employment Drug Test and will be included in pool of random drug testing thereafter.
Scheduled Monday through Thursday, 10 hours shifts, plus call-in for weather related situations.
