Highway Commissioner

Bayfield County is located in NW Wisconsin on Lake Superior. With over 960 inland lakes, 80 miles of Lake Superior Shoreline and over 50% of the lands in public ownership, outdoor opportunities abound.

The Bayfield County Highway Department maintains 173 miles of county and 175 miles of State Highways. The Department headquarters is Washburn with portals in Cable, Mason, Iron River, Port Wing and Russel. The Highway Commissioner oversees operations together with the Patrol Superintendent, Shop Foreman and Office Manager.

Bayfield County is seeking an innovative and dynamic Commissioner to oversee a $10 million budget, 26 employees and an annual highway reconstruction plan. The applicant must have strong verbal, writing and computer skills and must be knowledgeable and experienced in state and local Department of Transportation funding processes.
