Highway Administrative Assistant
Do you have high attention to detail, the ability to remain organized, and experience in the public works field? If so, the Monroe County Highway Department might have the job for you. We are hiring for a full-time Administrative Assistant. Successful candidates will have a two years college or technical school training in bookkeeping or closely related field, as well as two years’ experience in bookkeeping and data entry. Experience with electronic database systems, governmental financial database systems, and spreadsheet programs to include Microsoft Office is preferred. General knowledge of public works, industrial, or automotive warehouse operations is helpful. Candidates with equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired will also be considered.
Our Administrative Assistant contributes in the operation of Uniform Cost Accounting Systems as approved by Monroe County and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. This role is responsible for assisting with inventory management and accounts payable for the department, as well as project materials management. The Administrative Assistant prepares DOT crash reports for processing, participates in physical inventory of materials and supplies, prepares weekly timesheets for the department’s employees, enters payroll, and completes other departmental clerical duties.
