Essential Duties

Provides comprehensive nursing care to all residents based on the administrative and nursing policies under the supervision for a registered nurse.
Supports the principles of the nursing process, standards of nursing practice, current state regulations as per HFS132 and federal regulations, and/or the program objectives for the diversified population of the facility.
Provides communication between all health care workers, residents, family, and the community both orally and in written format.
Works under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Assesses the resident’s condition on an ongoing basis utilizing the nursing process. Documents information gathered in accordance with the nursing process and facility policy and procedures.
Evaluates resident’s condition and identifies the need to notify the attending physician and family/legal responsible party of any change in the resident’s condition, notifying the registered nurse as needed.
Administers medications and treatments per MD orders and provides direct resident care.
Monitors use of special equipment, i.e. oxygen, intravenous, etc.
Participates in the care planning process as appropriate.
Directly responsible for supervision of the daily work assignments, care plans, and performances of assigned activities of nursing staff, i.e. LPNs, Medication Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, Personal Care Assistants, etc. in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
Understands and promotes the concept of comprehensive individualized nursing care for a diversified population.
Initiates investigations of incident and accident reports of residents and employees (coordinates with social services, nursing management, and the administrator).
Initiates specialty assessments as needed, i.e. safety assessment, hydration assessment, skin assessment, pain assessment, etc.
Attends in-services provided by facility in order to update their skills, providing suggestions as appropriate for topics he/she would like to have discussed at monthly meetings.
Participates in the Quality Improvement Program.
May perform other varied duties/responsibilities per facility needs.
Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited/licensed school of nursing.
Has been granted a temporary permit as a graduate registered nurse which is valid for a period of 3 months or until the holder receives notification of failing the NCLEX, whichever occurs first. Renewal may be renewed once. Practice under temporary permits, including renewal, may not exceed 6 months total duration.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $28.50 – $36.96 per hour
