Wage: $21.27 – $22.56 per hour

Job Description:
Waushara County is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Services Specialist to provide supportive services to families and social workers within the department. This position coordinates and supervises family contact and visitation, offering education and guidance to parents and caregivers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, maintain strong communication, and effectively support families in need.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide family and parent education in areas such as household management, childcare, nutrition, health, discipline, and parenting based on approved plans.
Work closely with social workers to assess progress, identify needs, and contribute to the success of family cases.
Maintain accurate documentation, including case records and progress reports.
Supervise and facilitate visitations between foster children and their natural parents, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Support foster parents through educational services and visits, and assist with transportation and recreational activities.
Assist in organizing community events like Blue-Ribbon Kids Day and Back to School Bash.
Distribute emergency food and clothing to families referred by agency staff.
Participate in team, agency, and community meetings, as required.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or director.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or training in family systems, human development, or financial management is a plus.
At least one year of experience working with families and children.
A minimum of three years of post-diploma work experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of child development and family systems.
Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate others.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.

Additional Requirements:
Must have a current driver’s license and auto liability insurance.
Ability to work in a variety of environments, including client homes and community locations, which may involve substandard conditions or challenging situations.
A flexible work schedule is required, with some evening and weekend hours expected.
