Are you a self-driven, organized, and have an interest in environmental health? If so, the Monroe County Health Department has an exciting opportunity for you! We are hiring a full-time Environmental Health Coordinator. Applicants must hold a valid Wisconsin Registered Sanitarian (RS) or REHS/RS credential or hold a RS-in training credential. Applicants who would be RS-eligible within 4 months of hire will also be considered. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and sufficient vehicle liability insurance.
The Environmental Health Coordinator oversees the day to day operations of the Environmental Health Program and helps ensure that local environments, businesses, and public spaces meet health and safety standards. Key responsibilities include enforcing food safety, lodging, and recreational facility administrative codes and standards under Wisconsin Statutes. The EH Coordinator conducts on site inspections of retail food establishments, lodging facilities, public swimming pools, and other licensed operations to evaluate sanitation, equipment, processes, and potential hazards. This role also includes documenting inspection findings, applying relevant codes and statutes, and issuing corrective actions as needed. Additionally, the EH Coordinator provides consultation and education to business owners and operators. This position also leads other environmental health program areas such as investigating human health hazards, responding to public complaints, and supporting environmental health emergency response activities. The EH Coordinator educates the community on environmental health risks and prevention strategies.
Starting salary for this position is $27.49/hr. for non-credentialed candidates and $29.44 to $31.50/hr. for candidates with the RS or REHS/RS credential. Monroe County offers an exceptional benefit package. https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/departments/human-resources/employee-benefits
