Deputy Register of Deeds

The Iowa County Register of Deeds Department is seeking applications for a full-time (35 hrs./wk.) Deputy position. Essential duties include working under the direction of the Register of Deeds and assuming responsibilities in their absence, by supervising, coordinating, planning and directing the activities in the Register of Deeds Office. Performs complex clerical and record keeping work; maintains statistical and real estate records and documents; assists customers daily; knowledge of applicable state statutes and legislation affecting the Register of Deeds Office. Hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Mon. – Fri. Starting pay is $18.87/hr. and a generous, comprehensive benefit package is provided.

Minimum qualifications include but are not limited to the following: high school diploma or GED, 3 years of recent and increasingly complex experience within a professional office environment, with at least one year in a legal environment; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have demonstrated proficiency and accuracy using recent versions of Microsoft Office products. Must possess a multi-task orientation, and be a self-starter. Must have excellent communication skills. Preference for Associates Degree or Technical Degree and job experience working with real estate records within a land description office or related environment.
