CPS Professional – Initial Assessment
Do you have a passion for helping others? If so, the Monroe County Dept. of Human Services Children and Family Services Unit might have the job for you. We are looking for a full-time Child Protective Services Professional – Initial Assessment. Successful candidates will have bachelor’s degree with a major in social work or related field. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license is required. Credentialing by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services as a certified Social Worker, or candidates eligible for credentialing through another human services related field with a clearly identified path to social work licensure may be considered.
Our CPS Initial Assessment Social Worker completes comprehensive initial assessments with recommendation for any needed interventions. This position is responsible for interviewing family members, collaterals, and referral sources using the trauma informed care principles; observing home conditions and completing safety assessments; and providing information relating to programs and services in the community and making referrals as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in engagement and family assessment, as well as have the ability to build rapport and have compassion for the families that are being served.
