Companion Care Worker

Seeking a Companion Care aide to provide companionship to a young adult with physical disabilities in their home.

Primary role would be Companion Care (8 hrs a week) with the option to also receive an additional hours 4 hours a week for light housekeeping/cooking duties at $14/hr.

Employee is hiring through IRIS, a program funded by the state of Wisconsin, must be +18 and needs to be able to pass a background check.

This role casual and relaxed, great for college students, qualifies as work for the CDCP training, or someone just wanting a few extra hours and wants a flexible schedule.

Scheduled hours are flexible. Individual prefers late afternoons, evenings. Will work with your schedule, just looking for someone to come and hang out with individual. Individual likes video games, art, knitting, sewing, going for walks. This is a role best suited for someone who wants a relaxed work environment.

Training is provided and any excursions outside of the home are based on the employee’s comfort, no personal cares are required for this job. Will provided paid First Aid and CPR training/certification.

Responsibilities:

– Provide companionship and engage in meaningful conversations.
– Accompany clients to outings, and social activities possible.
– Provide emotional support and promote a safe and comfortable environment.

Skills:

– Familiarity with Movement Disorders is a plus but by no means required.
– Understanding of home care principles, practices and HIPPA.
– Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
-Basic Sign Language a plus, but will be taught for the right person.
– Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

Requirements:

High school Diploma or equivalent
Driver’s License
Authorized to work in the United States
Be able to pass a background check
18+
Must be ok with cats and a dog.
