ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Answers questions by phone or in person to inquiries regarding department programs, appointments, and resources.
Initiates referrals and directs complex inquiries to appropriate staff.
Supports the Department programs and services through organizational management of critical timelines and documentation.
Completes required agency forms and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner for documentation and billing purposes.
Interviews and obtains pertinent information from new or prospective clients to direct them to the appropriate services.
Gathers necessary and accurate data for State reporting.
Verifies insurance/income eligibility requirements upon initial intake using identified agency-approved guidelines.
Assists crisis workers as needed with follow-up and linkage for ongoing services.
Links clients with services within other units of the Human Services and Health Department, and other County Departments as needed.
Arranges for client transportation when client is unable to self-initiate the process, in accordance with agency procedure.
Provides assistance and/or linkage to assistance for clients in need of financial aid, requests for information, and help completing appropriate forms.
Provides backup assistance to other Department personnel as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
Work has standard vision requirements.
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.
May require dealing with persons who are hostile, aggressive, abusive or violent, posing threatening conditions.
Work is generally in a moderately noisy office setting.
Qualifications
Education
Required
High School or better in Education or related field.
Preferred
Associates or better.
Experience
Required
Must successfully pass caregiver and criminal background check.
2 years:
Previous clerical support/receptionist experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Preferred
Bilingual
Work experience with mental health/AODA.
