Job Description:

The Aging & Disability Resource Center, located in Iowa County, is seeking applications for a full time Benefit Specialist. Duties include offering information, counseling and assistance related to eligibility for private and public programs such as insurance, Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid and other financial and consumer concerns to adults 18-59, in coordination with other county, community and governmental agencies. Experience with Social Security, Medicare, Medical Assistance, SSI, and other public benefit programs preferred. Hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., M-F. Starting pay range is $22.88/hr. -$25.42/hr. and a generous, comprehensive benefit package is provided.

Minimum qualifications include but are not limited to the following: Bachelor of Arts or Science degree (preferably in a health or human services related field) or a license to practice as a registered nurse in Wisconsin pursuant to s.441.06 Stats, and the equivalent of at least one year of full-time experience in a health or human service field, working with one or more of the client populations served by the Aging and Disability Resource Center (elderly or adults with physical or developmental/intellectual disabilities). Qualifying work experience may be paid or unpaid and may include internships, field placements and volunteer work. Preference for professional knowledge of public benefits, entitlements, insurance rules, and consumer issues, and/or paralegal experience. Position will require limited travel during the day.
