Waushara County, Wisconsin is accepting applications for the role of County Administrator. Located 75 miles Northeast of Madison and 100 miles south of Green Bay, Waushara County boasts picturesque landscapes of forests, lakes, and farmland and a welcoming community to live and work. As the County Administrator, you will serve as the chief administrative officer responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of Waushara County. Reporting directly to the Board of Supervisors, you will play a key role in shaping policies, managing budgets, and ensuring efficient delivery of services across all county departments.

The successful candidate must be a strong leader, communicator, and collaborator skilled at establishing and maintaining working relationships with the County Board of Supervisors, County Department Heads, and County employees. You will have demonstrated knowledge of the principles of local government including election laws, financial administration, and be able to provide recommendations to the County Board. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in personnel management, supervision and administration, preferably in the public sector, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Relations, Public Administration or related field with emphasis on communications, compensation and labor negotiations preferred.

This is an in-person position. Preference will be given to residents of Waushara County or those willing to relocate prior to start date.

• Provide leadership and guidance to department heads and staff to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of county operations.
• Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and financial analyses to the County Board.
• Collaborate with elected officials, community stakeholders, and regional partners to address local needs and priorities.
• Manage the county budget, including revenue projections, expenditures, and fiscal planning.
• Oversee human resources functions, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and employee relations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Relations, Public Administration or related field with emphasis on communications, compensation and labor negotiations preferred.
• 5 or more years’ experience in personnel management, supervision and administration, preferably in the public sector.
• Strong leadership abilities with proven experience in team building, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
• Sound financial management skills, including budget development, analysis, and oversight.
• Demonstrated knowledge of local government operations, policies, and procedures.
• Commitment to transparency, accountability, and public service excellence.

Salary and Benefits: Salary for this position will range from $100,000 – $115,000 based on qualifications and experience. Waushara County offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, generous paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
