POSITION SUMMARY:
Marathon County’s Health Department has a 40 hour per week Administrative Specialist position for a qualified individual to join our team. This position provides administrative support for several program areas within the Health Department by working our front desk reception area. Work hours are primarily 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, possibly working late afternoon or early evening 1-2 times per month with advanced notice.

The ideal candidate will possess skills in critical thinking and problem solving, be well versed in technology options, and is excited to learn and apply knowledge and skills for the betterment of department administrative systems and workflow. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation or equivalent and 2 years clerical office experience; OR equivalent combination of related post high school education and experience. Post high school education or training in the field of Administrative Professional, or similar field, desired. Experience using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required.

Necessary Special Qualifications: Driver’s license and a driving record that meets County Standards; OR ability to obtain reliable transportation as needed.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Serves as receptionist providing public information and customer service for a variety of services requiring an understanding of the services provided. Answers and directs calls and referrals.
Prepares and enters deposits for a variety of services in accordance with clerical and accounting controls established for the procedure.
Responds to requests for assistance from managers or other department colleagues.
Operates office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
Serves as a resource to colleagues for use of databases and Microsoft Office software.
Performs data entry using computerized spreadsheets and multiple database applications. Compiles data, creates and runs reports, and updates as needed.
Prepares various documents, spreadsheets, correspondence, forms and reports. Organizes information into suitable formats as requested.
Supports and participates in quality improvement initiatives. Develops solutions to work issues that add value for our customers.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance; works extra hours as required.
Performs related work as required.

COMPENSATION:
Starting hourly rate (B21): Minimum $16.16 – Midpoint $18.99
