Accounting Associate, Brookside Care Center

The Accounting Associate for Brookside Care Center performs a variety of accounting and clerical duties. The position is responsible for private pay collections and will need to exhibit strong communication skills with residents and their families. Professionalism, good judgment, and accuracy are essential skills needed to excel in this position.

2024 Hiring Range: $21.82 – $24.79 per hour

Work Schedule
• This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, generally from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Position Summary and Job Duties
• Reports to and performs work as directed by the Fiscal Services Manager
• Performs the collections process, including sending out collection letters and collection calls for all private pay accounts, with detailed documentation of all collections efforts
• Enters and processes accounts payable invoices
• Files correspondence, forms, reports, accounts payable invoices, and other materials
• Files estate claims with the court
• Develops and maintains various computer applications using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Calculates and reconciles resident balances with reports such as the trust account balances and transactions analysis
• Performs banking functions that include writing checks, balancing bank register to resident computer system, and reconciling bank book
• Sends out monthly and ad hoc resident invoices
• Observes rules of confidentiality
• Performs other work as required or assigned

• Ability to maintain accurate up-to-date resident account records
• Ability to balance payment plans to ensure proper cash posting and ensure payment plans are up to date

• Ability to work with people of various backgrounds and remain professional and courteous at all times

Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Two years of experience working with accounting in an office setting; five years of experience preferred
• Collections experience in a healthcare environment preferred
• College-level coursework or certifications in Accounting, Business, or Human Services; Associate Degree preferred
• Or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job

The successful candidate for this position will be required to comply with the Center for Medicare & Medicaid regulations and Brookside Care Center’s mandatory vaccination policy requiring vaccinations in healthcare facilities. Proof of vaccination will be required as a condition of employment unless an individual obtains an approved medical or religious exemption.
