Job Description:

Chippewa County is accepting applications for an Accountant I position within the Human Services Department. The job duties of the Accountant I include but are not limited to:

 Medicaid billing – proofing and compiling system reports and direct data entry
 Invoice processing – pay vendors for services rendered
 Various auditing, analysis and reporting activities
 Contract management – assist with contracting process

Performs other duties as assigned, all under the general direction of the Director of Human Services, and under direct supervision of the DHS Fiscal Manager.

Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in accounting and five (5) years accounting related work experience OR Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or closely related field and three (3) years accounting related work experience required. Recent work experience in a human service, government or non-profit setting preferred. Experience with billing – Medicaid, Medicare, and Private Insurance preferred. Experience in accounts payable preferred. Work experience which includes working with performance-based contracts, requests for information, bids, proposals preferred. Starting Wage: $21.02 – $23.13 per hour depending on qualifications plus an excellent fringe benefit package. Maximum Wage: $28.91 per hour.
