2025 Hiring Range: $29.01 – $32.97 per hour

Position Summary and Job Duties
The Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of routine and moderately complex accounting functions which may include classifying and verifying transactions; maintaining, reconciling, and balancing accounts; preparing financial reports and statements; preparing and making journal entries; preparing payroll-related reports; and providing overall accounting support and financial analysis.
• Determines and corrects errors by making adjustments and corrections to systems
• Works in various financial management systems which include county, state, and federal reporting systems and contract management system
• Prepares a variety of financial transactions and reports such as journal entries, financial statements, trial balances, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, voucher reports, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable
• Calculates, reconciles, and balances various financial data to accounting reports such as registers, control sheets, bank statements, disbursement books, and ledgers
• Develops and maintains spreadsheets for defined applications related to assigned tasks
• Researches, collects, and summarizes financial data as directed
• Performs routine internal auditing work in verifying the accuracy and compliance to procedure of accounting books, reports, records, documents, and other financial and fiscal information operations and procedures
• Provides backup support to other staff and performs additional duties as needed, including but not limited to receiving payments, issuing receipts, and processing bank deposits
• Processes monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reimbursement documents
• Assists with annual budget process
• Performs other work as required or assigned

Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• At least two years of related work experience

Preferred Education and Experience
• At least one year of government accounting experience
