Job Summary
Performs responsible admissions and billing duties which may include any of the essential duties noted below and other duties as assigned related to services rendered at the Brown County Community Treatment Center (CTC). This includes the Nicolet Psychiatric hospital, CTC Outpatient Clinic, Bay Shore Village Nursing Home and Bay Haven CBRF. Duties also may include support for other Human Services programs.

Requires independent judgment, initiative, and learning the necessary specialized knowledge to carry out established procedures and apply government regulations while completing work accurately on a timely basis.

This position will also provide coverage for front desk reception staff for breaks, lunch periods, and vacations.

Essential Duties
Collect payer and demographic information from new clients and/or other responsible party upon admission and enter into the billing system. For returning clients, confirm existing information in the system is still accurate and update as needed for billing purposes. Contact insurance companies requiring pre-authorization of services on a timely basis to meet required deadlines.

Ensure proper signed releases have been obtained prior to submission of claims.

Follow up with third party payers when no response is received from a submission.

Provide information and answer questions received by payers, clients, social workers, and guarantors.

Monitor the need for prior authorizations; execute the initial procedures to obtain the authorization; and complete follow up procedures to ensure proper authorization has been obtained.

Complete and maintain necessary documentation according to applicable admissions and billing procedures.

Maintain confidentiality of client and business information.

Scan miscellaneous documents and reports.

Serve as relief receptionist for front desk reception area.

Assist Admissions & Billing Supervisor and/or Accountant Supervisor on various duties to complete claims and collections on services provided by county programs.

Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:

Preferred education and experience includes: Associates degree in Accounting or Health Care Services, one year of experience in health care admissions or billing and/or equivalent combination of education, training and related experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Extended periods of sitting; intermittent standing and walking.

Using hand(s) and feet for repetitive single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, and operating controls.

Occasional bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, reaching, and grappling.

Communicating orally in a clear manner.

Distinguishing sounds at various frequencies and volumes.

Distinguish people or objects at varied distance under a variety of light conditions.

Must be free from communicable disease.
