Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor: Accounting Systems, the Account Associate III performs accounting responsibilities for DHHS to maintain department and/or client-specific financial records and prepares expenditure reports.

Hours are: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Remote work: Up to 50% upon successfully completing the introductory period and an approved work plan.

Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Process and receipts payments in various software systems.
Performs representative payee receipting and check issuance functions following defined procedures and within specified timeframes.
Back-up to main representative payee.
Generates payments and/or makes correcting adjustments to prior transactions.
Provides training and monitors that portion of receipting procedures completed by others.
Processes direct payment vouchers and journal entries.
Sets up and maintains bank accounts.
Prepares invoices when requested.
Compiles and maintains spreadsheets.
Reviews accounts for collections process.
Meets mandated deadlines as determined by specific assignment.
Phone and walk in clinic when assigned.
Balances reports and verifies information against ledgers.
Representative payee for youth clients.
Maintains accurate and timely client data.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime/extra hours as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements:
Associate degree in accounting or related field required.
Three or more years progressively responsible experience in bookkeeping/accounting preferred.
Or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Required or Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to conform to goals, policies, and procedures of the Department as well as the Outagamie County Work Rules and Terms of Employment.
Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures and business mathematics.
Ability to solve accounting problems.
Knowledge of Mainframe, Server and PC operation including the software programs utilized by the department.
Ability to adopt accounting methods to variety of transactions and problems.
Knowledge of departmental operations.
Ability to interpret and analyze complex data with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to determine priorities, plan and organize work schedule to meet mandated deadlines.
Ability to work independently, budget time and schedule work to efficiently complete tasks.
Ability and skill in exercising sound judgment and discretion in the application and interpretation of state, county and department policies and regulations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other county and agency employees, and the general public.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability.
Knowledge of office procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate in English and understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and figure simple mathematical calculations.
Skill in the use of telephone, calculators, copy machines, computer terminals, typewriters, fax machines and other office equipment.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 5 pounds, understanding and utilizing proper body mechanics.
