Green Lake County Clerk Marge Bostelmann Named 2014 "WCA Friend in County Government"
- Posted on September 22, 2014
Green Lake County Clerk Marge Bostelmann has been named the 2014 recipient of the Wisconsin Counties Association's (WCA) “Friend in County Government” award.
This is the highest honor given by the Association to an individual who has performed outstanding service not only in their own county, but also for the Association and counties statewide. Bostelmann was honored September 16, 2014 at the WCA Annual Conference in Sauk County.
“The role of clerk is imperative in the day-to-day operations of a county and Marge Bostelmann excels in serving as Green Lake's County Clerk,” said WCA Executive Director Mark D. O'Connell. “Marge is not only a true treasure for the association but all of Wisconsin as well. She is the embodiment of public service. WCA is proud to recognize Marge for her years of dedication and service with the '2014 Friend in County Government Award.'”
During the presentation at the WCA Annual Conference at the Second General Assembly, O'Connell read quotes from several of her colleagues from around the state, including:
“Marge is my neighboring County Clerk. I never hesitate to pick up the phone and call her to ask a question or get an opinion on Clerk duties. She has so much knowledge. Marge has taught several trainings at Wisconsin County Clerks Association conferences and for the UW-Green Bay institute. I have great respect for her and the job she does.”
-Lisa Freiberg, Fond du Lac County Clerk
Marge is one of the most gracious people I have ever met, and her mastery of county clerk duties, coupled with her instinctive social intelligence of how a clerk fits into the picture of county government brings significant credit and respect to the office of the county clerk. We all benefit from her willingness to contribute her time and effort in order to make county government more effective.”
-Jamie Aulik, Manitowoc County Clerk
“Forever the optimist, Marge performs the role of County Clerk with a professional attitude, a calm demeanor, a sense of pride and with a smile. Always a visionary for the Wisconsin County Clerks Association, she provides the 'glass is always half full' approach with positive debate and encouraged all clerks to perform their duties to the highest level of accountability. She is our leader.”
-Kathy Brandt, Marinette County Clerk
“Through our years of shared public service, Marge has proved to be not only a tireless advocate for Green Lake County but also a wonderful and trusted friend. For anyone who knows Marge, they will agree she is a remarkably dedicated public servant to her community and a truly genuine person. It is an honor to call her my colleague and my friend.
-State Senator Luther Olsen
Marge also serves on the WCA Board of Directors as a representative of the Wisconsin County Clerks Association and also serves on the WCA Group Health Trust Board of Directors.
“We are honored to work with such a dedicated public servant as Marge Bostelmann and are grateful to her for all she's done over the years on behalf of all 72 counties in the state,” said O'Connell.
