The Child Support Accounting Associate performs a variety of accounting tasks, data entry, clerical support, filing, and auditing of accounts in a statewide computer system. The Accounting Associate coordinates with caseworkers to ensure that court orders are entered and adjusted timely, reports are completed, and various case maintenance tasks are performed. Clerical support functions include customer service activities, especially the ability to communicate legal and accounting terminology clearly. This position reports to the Child Support Attorney.
2025 Hiring Range: $21.82 – $24.79 per hour
Position Summary and Job Duties
• Process court orders and enter into statewide computer system
• Audit accounts and initiate corrections
• Review and verify financial account information
• Maintain records
• Provide customer service assistance to the public over the telephone, by email, and in person
• Answer inquiries from legal professionals
• Prepare payments for posting, verify receipt of funds by the receipting agency, and process suspended collections
• Collect child support payments, sometimes working in conjunction with co-workers, to facilitate the release of individuals from the Kenosha County Jail
• Perform locate efforts for parents, utilizing various locate tools and databases
• Calculate support orders and prepare cases for financial hearings
• Coordinate and communicate case activities with caseworkers
• Process periodic reports and electronic alerts to adjust accounts
• Use discretion with clients and exhibit cultural competence; observe rules of confidentiality and maintain non-judgmental attitude
• Work reports as assigned
• Assist in recruiting clients for child support services
• Perform other work as required or assigned
Success Factors
Knowledge of:
• General accounting principles
• Kids Information Data System (KIDS), wiKIDS, Child Support Online Services (CSOS), Control D, CARES/Cares Worker Web (CWW), and Circuit Court Access (CCAP); or ability to obtain required knowledge within six months of employment
• State and federal child support financial guidelines
Skill in:
• Customer service, both internal and external

• Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat Professional

Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• College-level coursework or certifications in Accounting, Business, Human Services, or related field; Associate degree preferred
• Two years of experience working with accounting in an office setting; five years of experience preferred
• Experience with individuals of varying socio-economic backgrounds
• One to two years of work experience in Child Support and/or KIDS database
• Or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job
Other Job Requirements
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Regular attendance and punctuality
• Must pass a criminal background check/fingerprinting
