2024 Hiring Range: $71,530 – $85,155

Position Summary and Job Duties
The Database Administrator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. Additionally, this individual is responsible for data governance initiatives and assistance with dashboard creation.
• Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases.
• Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
• Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
• Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity.
• Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
• Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
• Monitor, optimize, and allocate physical data storage for database systems.
• Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
• Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
• Create, or support creation of, required reports and dashboards in response to business user needs.
• Perform database transaction and security audits.
• Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.
• Develop routines for end users to facilitate best practices database use.
• Develop, maintain, implement, and test business continuity and disaster recovery strategies for data integrity and availability.
• When needed, provide application support across a wide variety of enterprise applications.
• Liaise with 3rd party support vendors and our customers to troubleshoot and resolve support incidents.
• In conjunction with data owners and department managers, develop data models and protocols for mining production databases.
• Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.
• Configuration of Azure tenant management, managing resource consumption, and monitoring workloads in the Azure Portal

Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer systems design, computer science or a related field
• 3+ years of professional work experience with database administration or related field

Preferred Education and Experience
• Information Technology Infrastructure Library certification (ITIL)
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate

Other Requirements
• Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire and maintain during incumbency.

Success Factors
• Knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices; applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• Knowledge of organization’s goals and objectives.
• Skill with designing, building, installing, configurating and supporting database services, including Microsoft SQL Server in an Always-On, clustered configuration.
• Skill with data preparation, processing, classification, forecasting, hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
• Skill in project management; customer service; SQL Serve Reporting Services (SSRS); SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS); Microsoft Visual Studio, Azure Portal and Power BI and/or Fabric.
• Ability to interact with inter-departmental projects and communicate with various stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Ability to create and publish technical documentation.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
• Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products as required.
• Ability to work respectfully in a diverse and inclusive and a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
