As the Richland County Emergency Services Director, your role would involve overseeing two departments: Emergency Management and the Richland County Ambulance Service. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. You’d be working with a diverse group of people and utilizing plans such as the Richland County Integrated Preparedness Plan, working towards creating a resilient and prepared community, as well as the Richland County Ambulance Service Business Plan, which will help continue to lead the Service into the future.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Mental acuity and adaptability: The Director must be able to work well with such tasks/topics as with planning and coordination, managing resources including personnel and multiple budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and incident analysis.
•Interpersonal Communication: The Director must communicate effectively with all involved in emergency response as well as with elected officials, Federal and State Government officials, peers, employees, and the public, being professional and patient while observing HIPAA regulations.
•Physical and Environmental Adaptability: The Director must be able to bend, lift weight beyond 80lbs, and kneel for long periods of time. The Director will be expected at times to respond to potentially hazardous scenes at a variety of locations which may present with risks such as extreme temperatures, noises, odors, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

•Five years previous management experience in related field.
•Valid Wisconsin AEMT with NRAEMT certification.
•Valid WI Driver’s license and unlimited access to reliable transportation.
•Current AHA BLS Instructor certification.
•Demonstrates working knowledge of Wisconsin Administrative Codes and Wisconsin State Statutes related to EMS and Emergency Management.
•ICS training level 100, 200 & 300 and NIMS IS-700 & IS-800 training.
•Acquire Wisconsin Certification for Emergency Managers (WCEM) within two years of hire.
•Ability to use the WARDS – Wisconsin Ambulance Run Data System.
•Working knowledge of computers, computer programs, typing, and data entry.
•Pass extensive background check.
