Jailer

Chippewa County is currently seeking candidates for Jailer positions within the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department. This position is responsible for supervising inmates of the Chippewa County Jail while assuring a safe, secure, and sanitary environment in accordance with established procedure and guidelines under the general direction of the Jail Sergeants and Jail Lieutenant. Qualified candidates will have the ability to manage, direct and command people in a respectful and effective manner as well as a demonstrated history of being able to think and act quickly, accurately and calmly under time constraints and in difficult or emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Two (2) years of previous full-time work experience required. Two (2) of previous corrections/jail experience preferred. 200-hour basic Jail Officers Certification must be obtained within one year of hire if not already certified (tuition and wages while attending the school are paid by Chippewa County). Starting Wage: $24.29 – $26.40 per hour depending on qualifications plus an excellent fringe benefit package. Maximum Wage: $31.68 per hour
