Summary:
These are full-time social work/case management positions providing services for CPS Families, for Initial Assessment and Ongoing Case Management. Duties include case management, assessing needs of families, safety evaluations and interviewing, placement determinations, making court recommendations, collaborating with community resources, and receiving/documenting abuse and neglect referrals. In addition, this position may provide voluntary case management services. This position will provide Access Intake duties on a rotating basis and also participate in a 24-hour juvenile intake on-call rotation.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Children and Families Unit Case Management:
· Case management for children, youth and families. Address immediate safety concerns for children in need of protection or services, assess and plan for safety, develop case plans, prepare for and participate in court proceedings (permanency plan hearings, dispositional hearings, change of placement hearings, criminal proceedings), coordination of services, monitor dispositional orders, and collaborate with service providers to address family’s needs.
· Access Intake: Participate in the Access rotation. Receive and document abuse/neglect reports and forward to supervisor or their designee. Provide information and resources to those contacting the Department. Conduct initial interviews in order to determine the nature of access or service need and what unit or department is best able to assist the consumer.
· Offer of Voluntary Services. Assist families to find formal and informal supports within the community.
· On-Call: Receive incoming child protection and juvenile delinquency emergencies after-hours, make decisions regarding immediate safety, make decisions regarding holding a juvenile in custody, coordinate with law enforcement regarding custody decisions, coordinate with emergency placement/juvenile detention.
Education and/or Experience:
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in social work or a closely related field, Wisconsin Certification as a Social Worker preferred but not required, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proficient computer skills.
Relevant formal preparation would include prior work experience as a Social Worker or Case Manager in a County Setting; a working knowledge of social work principles, ethics and boundaries, and familiarity with Chapters 48 and 938 of the Wisconsin Children’s Code; and knowledge of the EWISACWIS computer system and county child protection and juvenile justice experience is preferred. State training will be required to meet standards for specific job duties.
