Job Summary
Under the direction of the Hospital and Nursing Home Administrator, provides organizational leadership and support to department managers, most frequently the Director of Nursing-Nicolet Psychiatric Hospital/Crisis Stabilization and Director of Nursing-Nursing Home. Assists to supervise departments, services and licensing regulations during Administrator absences. Accountable for day to day inpatient department functions and problem solving.

Essential Duties
Assists to lead assigned departments to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of inpatient residential services consistent with Brown County’s mission and objectives.

Recommends policies, procedures and strategic goals for inpatient residential areas and support services.

Assists to assess the implementation of goals and objectives for assigned departments.

Assists Director(s) of Nursing in directing and evaluating overall operations, as well as, maintaining regulatory compliance.

Assists Director(s) of Nursing in employee performance management for lower level employees.

Provides budget and financial planning recommendations to the Administrator.

Initiates and carries through to completion special projects as directed by the Administrator.

Promotes a positive work environment and interdepartmental partnership.

Assists to complete State and Federal reports and investigations under the direction of the Administrator.

Participates in the implementation of system changes, promotes evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives. Completes audits and oversight as needed to determine compliance with quality initiatives.

In conjunction with Director(s) of Nursing and Administrator, determines the educational needs of employees and assists with the coordination and delivery of education.

Promotes quality behavioral health programs and emergency mental health services.

Interviews and recommends candidates for hire.

Attends and facilitates meetings.

Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum 5 years leadership experience in healthcare or behavioral health

Licenses and Certifications:

Nursing Home Administrator License preferred. Must otherwise be qualified and interested in obtaining nursing home administrator’s licensure.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of management practices.

Analyze complex problems and recommend solutions.

Implement short- and long-range strategic plans.

Ability to read and understand State and Federal regulation, as well as, interpret County policy.

Incorporate team participation in decision making when appropriate while remaining confident in independent decision making as required as decisions relate to the best interest the organization and Brown County.

Direct employees and motivate employees in efforts to improve quality, efficiency and productivity.

Knowledge of Medicaid programs, insurance programs and reimbursement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 10 pounds.

Extended periods of sitting; intermittent standing and walking.

Using hand(s)/feet for repetitive single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling and operating controls.

Communicating orally in a clear manner.

Distinguishing sounds at various frequencies and volumes.

Distinguishing people or objects at varied distances under a variety of light conditions.
